IDC (Islamic Diversity Centre) has been established since 2000, in Newcastle upon Tyne.  We are a local organisation aimed at providing information, advice and guidance in the areas of Islamic awareness, Equalities and Diversity.  We specialise in delivering tailored Equalities and Diversity training programs as well as consultancy seminars to organisations.

Our trainers are highly experienced and dedicated in
delivering professional training courses in the areas of
Islam, Equality and Diversity.  We are experts in planning,
designing and implementing such policies & strategies
    within the workplace.

IDC also networks with organisations, working on their
behalf to forward relevant information and services to the
BME community within the North East area.  We have
worked closely with other Islamic organisations and ISOCs     in the region as part of our wider Newcastle and Islamic
networking.  We also help in advice towards gaining
accessibility within BME communities and job recruitment in
    the public and service sector.

Since its formation, IDC has become dedicated in
presenting the pure teachings of Islam in response to many
of the myths and misconceptions that are commonly held.

IDC organises Islamic Awareness events as a result of
many suggestions and appeals by the non-Muslim
community.  In addition to raise awareness, these events
are aimed to reduce the fear of alienation towards and within
     the Muslim community.

IDC can help develop organisations who have contact with
the Muslim community in the UK, whether that is as
colleagues in the workplace or beneficiaries whom they
    work with.

Our Goals

Working with professional and public sectors to provide awareness around Muslim sensitivities within the work place.

Increase potential for greater collaboration, joint work and partnership with Muslim communities and community organisations in UK.

Greater engagement and involvement of Muslim community members with service providers.

Promote greater inclusion.

Islamic Diversity Centre team presentation at the

Paediatric Ethics Study Day 3rd September 2008

Islamic Diversity Centre provided a thoroughly professional and interactive presentation.  The team were well prepared and had tailored their presentation to the requirements of the day rather than simply provide a generic talk about Islam; this was much appreciated as it focussed on medical issues that directly related to our care of Muslim patients.

The team were open to questioning and sensitive to the professionals’ challenges in openly discussing the needs of Muslim patients.

The Islamic Diversity Centre is certainly providing an invaluable service in providing these type of talks.  They will certainly be used again within the Trust and the Medical School.  The IDC provided an information pack that gave direction for patients and the scripture and teaching that supported these directions which I am sure we will use widely within the Children’s Directorate.  This has been passed on to the chaplaincy service and a copy held within each ward in the directorate.

The talk evaluated extremely well by the candidates.  All candidates rated the presentation as good (50%) or excellent (50%).  Comments included:

“Really enjoyed this talk.  Good to know about the resource of the IDC”

            “Excellent group very interesting”

“… I will cascade information to my unit.”

“Excellent”

Thank you for a fascinating and practical presentation.
